Nailing the Learning & Development Job Interview
In this webinar, participants will explore the latest trends in industry and higher education to succeed in interviews in the learning and development fields, based on what hiring managers are looking for. Topics include effective application materials, use of electronic portfolios, key elements of a cover letter and resume, and frequently asked questions during these interviews.
Miko Nino has been in the fields of instructional design and training since 2006. During this time, he has worked as coach, consultant, project manager, instructional designer, trainer, and research fellow. Currently, he is Instructional Design & Training Manager at Virginia Tech. Also, he is the current President of the ATD Valleys of Virginia Chapter.
A significant part of his practice and research focuses on professional development, digital networking, and professional ePortfolios for job search and career advancement. He is interested in recruitment and hiring trends in industry and higher education. For years, he has mentored students in public speaking, interviewing skills, and resume/cover letter writing. Other practice and research interests include digital game-based learning and online course quality. His work has been published in magazines and peer-reviewed journals and presented at regional, national, and international conferences.
Prior to Virginia Tech, he collaborated with organizations such as Johns Hopkins Medicine, Johns Hopkins University, Special Olympics, Leo Pharma, University of Maryland Baltimore County, and others. He holds a BA in International from Lindenwood University, a MA in Instructional Systems Development from University of Maryland Baltimore County, and he is completing his PhD in Instructional Design & Technology at Virginia Tech.
